$21.97 - $24.72 per hour

 

Samaritan Daytop Health is a FQHC community‑based health center based in the Bronx that provides holistic, integrated primary and behavioral healthcare to adults and families. It is in collaboration with Samaritan Daytop Village which provides housing, addiction support and behavioral health to the community. The clinic offers comprehensive services including primary care, psychiatric care, preventive health services, nutritional counseling, and case management, with a strong focus on culturally responsive and affordable care for underserved populations. As a trusted partner of Samaritan Daytop Village, the health center is closely integrated with substance use, mental health, and recovery programs, allowing patients to receive coordinated physical and behavioral healthcare in a supportive, patient‑centered environment. 

 

 

 

 


The Role


The Medical Assistant shall serve as a member of the medical team and will work under the direct supervision of the nursing and medical provider staff while assisting and performing a prescribed set of duties in the provision of patient care. Additionally, the Medical Assistant will assume additional responsibilities for all clerical functions in the assigned clinic, as applicable, and when assigned. This work is carried out in support of the mission and philosophy of Samaritan Daytop Health, Inc.

 

Responsibilities


What You Will Do


  • Performs registration and processing of all patients
  • Responsible for taking and recording patient’s vital signs during the triage function.
  • Performs blood draws and other laboratory specimen collection as ordered by the medical provider.
  • Performs EKG.
  • Schedules patients for annual physicals, semi annuals and lab recall.
  • Sets appointments for referrals and follow-up calls when necessary.
  • Directs all incoming telephone calls to appropriate parties and take messages when necessary.
  • Escorts patients into medical provider’s examination rooms and monitor the flow of patients.
  • Ensures the collection of urine specimens for annual physicals.

Qualifications


Who You Will Be


  • High School or GED.
  • Graduate of a formal Medical Assistant Program.
  • At least One (1) year of prior experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical clinic.
  • Proficiency in Phlebotomy and EKG.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule as needed in response to participant and staff needs.
  • Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHR.
  • Ability to multi-task with excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Team player and ability to work independently.
